The Mad River and Huffman Dam

After several days of heavy rain the rivers were flooding and dams were opened to relieve the pressure on them. I had may my way out to Huffman Dam that is one of five dams that were built after catastrophic Great Dayton Flood of the Great Miami River in March 1913. Huffman Dam regulates the flow of the Mad River into the Great Miami River.

The amount of water flowing through the dam on this day was tremendous and made some great picture taking opportunities. The “churn” of the water was just amazing. Making for some great texture and tonality for some black and white photography.
